Taz Update - Channel 4 tonight

From Taz's family friend Judi at 1:05pm:

Basically Taz made it across Columbia Pike somehow and was south of Columbia Pike, west of Walter Reed, east of Glebe. Liz and I were working that area this morning based on a report of dog resembling Taz. Turned out a lot of folks were referencing a yellow lab that lives across from the fire station on Walter Reed.

Then a resident saw the dog in a yard, realized it was " the dog on the poster " and called Matt who called Liz.

Taz was so very happy to see his friend Liz, straining to fall into her arms. Liz took Taz to Bob and Edith's Diner on Columbia Pike where he was reunited with Hollie and her husband. Taz looks a little shell shocked, but his tail was wagging.

As Hollie said, in response to my observation that she and Taz have given so much to others, "guess it was our turn to get some good back". Amen.

From Taz's family friend Liz at 1:07pm:

Thank you everyone. Taz and family are home now. I am at their home fielding calls and thank you's. I want to thank everyone for their support, efforts and encouragement. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We are heading to the vet soon to be checked out.

Taz was found by a family near 18th Street and Walter Reed Drive in Arlington (Stafford Street to be exact) around noon. Thanks to the the fliers that were posted by the terrific volunteers and the media coverage, we were able to get Taz.

Taz is shell shocked, tired and very dirty, but overall looking good! His leash and collar were still attached!

Channel 4 is doing a follow up story that will air tonight (I believe).

Happy tails,
Liz

From Taz's family at 10:20pm:

Taz vomited his first food, tolerated chicken and cottage cheese the second meal. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. But after giving him a bath and checking him thoroughly he didn't wince, or jump. He has bites in his ears, sore area on his fanny (probably from diarrhea). His mouth is sore where he chewed on a stick(s) for food and a small area of infection on the left side of of his mouth. It is an area that occasionally infects because of the anatomy of his flews. All, and all, once cleaned up he is as good as new!!! He was pretty shell shocked at first but is doing much better after eating, getting clean. He LOVES water but hates getting a bath.

And Channel 4 closed the loop on their website with this short piece:
Missing Arlington Dog -- Found!
Taz is a therapy dog and a blood donor

NBC Washington

After searching for countless hours, an Arlington family has found their missing Golden Retriever.
Owner Hollie Bamford said just after noon Sunday, a family near Walter Reed Drive in Arlington spotted Taz in their backyard. They had seen the flyer and media reports and called Bamford with the good news.
Taz, a therapy dog and blood donor, had previously been spotted in the Glebe Road area near Columbia Pike, but would run away when people got close.
He had run out of a broken window of his owner's station wagon after it was involved in a car crash on Nov. 19. Bamford said the car flipped over and Taz escaped.
