Saturday Efforts

Lots of fliering today, though a drop in the bucket from what we need. See the next post for Sunday fliering plans, and leave a comment if you can help! The map will be updated by later tonight with what we know of the sightings and the fliering. (Anyone that fliers should leave a comment to describe the areas we fliered so we can map them. Thanks!)  Mark covered the Intersection and businesses around Glebe/Columbia Pike. and the neighorhood from Columbia Pike to the Fire House, Glebe Road to Quincy. He also checked out the area of Four Mile Run and the Car wash, and had a great response from the businesses, who .have put Taz's info on their list-server for neighborhood business. Everyone in the neighborhood knows about Taz! and they are also looking!
Other Sunday plans have us bringing in a tracker -- Laura Totis -- to track Taz' scent. We'll know where he's been wandering, and from it, we should get some direction as to just what we should do. Matt and Hollie will accompany then. Stay tuned for the results of that track!

More news coverage today -- Channel 4 this time. I saw it at 6:40, and they may air it again. This is the best way to spread the word, which is what we need to do to reach whoever is seeing Taz. Someone is seeing him; he's too big to hide from everyone!

Oh, there was a sighting call that came in to which Matt responded; we all allowed ourselves to think it was all over given that it was a golden retriever, in custody, in a location that Taz could have easily traveled to since his last sighting. It was a bummer that it was another dog, but we picked up where we left off. We have a picture of the dog here; this is important because this dog may have been running around in the same general location and time as Taz, and he could account for some sightings. (This dog's owner was found in fairly short order through Arlington Animal Control.)

I have 20 posters that I'd be willing to put up if you tell me where is best to locate them. I can also bring my therapy dog (golden retriever) Bailey to help search in the area if that will help. If the dog is more willing to come to other dogs than people perhaps it will help to have Bailey.

Thanks, Rick! I'm working now to line up a coordinator for a fliering push on Sunday -- meeting at the Wendy's on Columbia Pike (at Glebe) at 1pm if possible. We anticipate having some idea of the best places to flier by that time, as a result of the track that will take place in the morning. If not, the map on the blog will show by 9am what areas should be fliered -- to the best of our ability to figure it out.

Look for another blog update later this evening with the fliering push information. Thanks!
